Gorgo Custoza 2018
A blend of Trebbiano Toscano, Garganega, Cortese and Friuliano, fermented and raised in stainless steel, this is refreshment in a bottle. It has many fans and it begs the question: why drink expensive industrial Pinot Grigio when you can get an organic Custoza like this for a song?
Clos Henri 'Petit Clos' Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2018
From the Bourgeois family, source of some of Sancerre's finest wines, comes New Zealand Sauvignon of distinction. We love their sensibility with Sauvignon. Few do it better. Making some of the most subtle and mineral-driven wines in New Zealand, this 2018 shows beautiful and diverse citrus notes, subtle leafy and vegetal nuances and a long dry stony finish.
Judith Beck 'Beck Ink' Burgenland Red Blend 2017
A blend of Zweigelt and St. Laurent, this juicy little number is the perfect intro to Austrian red wine. Bright and tangy, with plenty of ripe berry nuance to back up its strident acids. You might have a new house red.
Barone Cornacchia 'Casanova' Montepulciano d'Abruzzo 2017
The name "Montepulciano" is a bit tricky for wine lovers. It is the name of a place where fabulous Sangiovese is grown, but is also a grape, which is not grown in the vineyards of Montepulciano. The Montepulciano grape is famous for making Abruzzo's most famous red and pink wines, and here we have an excellent example for short money. Quite different from Sangiovese, this bold red combines herbal and earthy notes with ripe dark fruits in a way that will appeal to Cab and Merlot lovers.
