Drink Beer, Raise Awareness, Support a Cause

Socially Conscious Beverages

This week, we would like to raise our glasses to some of the small producers who are not only dedicated to investing in their local communities, but who promote social justice for all.

People Power Series

As part of a collaborative movement started by Threes Brewing in Brooklyn, NY, to support the work of the American Civil Liberties Union, several breweries across the country have produced beer under the People Power name to raise money & advocate for community, equality, and civil rights.

Proclamation People Power Sour DIPA - 16oz/4pk, $20

A sour IPA with lactose and guava.

$2 from every 4pk sold of this beer is donated to the ACLU

Oxbow People Power DH Saison - 12oz/6pk, $13

A saison dry-hopped with Lemondrop hops. Blonde in color with bright notes of lemongrass, tropical fruit, white pepper, and pine with a dry finish.

A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the ACLU

Breathing: Conversations

This project, started by Finback Brewing, is a platform for breweries - and everyone - to have a conversation about race. The hope is to spread ideas, encourage further dialog that will raise awareness, engagement and action.

Interboro Breathing: Conversations West Coast IPA - 16oz/4pk, $21

Pours bright gold with lacing white foam - with a touch of that west coast haze. Aromas of grapefruit pith and dank berries. Brewed with pilsner malt and English pale malt.

A portion of the profits go to Black Youth Project 100.

BYP100 is a national, member-based organization of Black 18-35 year old activists and organizers, dedicated to creating justice and freedom for all Black people. They do this through building a network focused on transformative leadership development, direct action organizing, advocacy, and political education using a Black queer feminist lens.

Black Is Beautiful

Launched by Weathered Souls Brewing, the Black is Beautiful initiative is a collaborative effort amongst the brewing community and its customers, in an attempt to bring awareness to the injustices that many people of color face daily. The mission is to bridge the gap and provide a platform to show that the brewing community is an inclusive place for everyone of any color.

Pontoon Black Is Beautiful Imperial Stout - 16oz/4pk, $18

This version of Black Is Beautiful is tiramisu inspired with subtle notes of cocoa, coffee and vanilla to showcase the recipe by Weathered Souls Brewing Co. 20% of the proceeds from Black Is Beautiful will go to @songatlanta: an LGBTQ+ Organization for racial and economic justice in the south.

Support Local Communities

Anxo Cidre Blanc: Amplify Edition - 12oz/4pk, $12

Bright & refreshing. ANXO's flagship dry cider features GoldRush apples sourced from farmers within 150 miles of ANXO in DC. Anxo, in collaboration with Craft Collective, have chosen to support ReVision Urban Farm, an innovative community-based urban agriculture project in Dorchester, MA. $2 from every 4-pack will benefit ReVision Urban Farm.

This non-profit is committed to providing access to locally grown produce to those who are homeless, facing addiction, and/or living with chronic health conditions. In association with ReVision Family Home, they also provide job training for youth and Boston’s homeless. Urban farms and community gardens are critical to underserved communities for many reasons. Recently, The New York Times reported on the environmental impact that the practice of redlining continues to have on urban communities, nearly 100 years later. The article mentions the importance of green spaces and how programs, like ReVision, are creating spaces that help cool down formerly redlined districts facing sweltering summers, in addition to providing fresh food to communities that often lack easily accessible grocery stores with fresh produce.

FAB 200 Fruited IPA - 16oz/4pk, $21

Hazy, lovely mosaic-hopped IPA, this FAB special release was created for their 200 day anniversary. #FAB200 is a New England IPA infused with mangoes and fresh Meyer lemon. Tart and refreshing, hiding its strength while packing a citrusy punch, this August release in their ongoing series of single-batch fruited IPAs is brimming with a aroma and the zest and fruit of Meyer lemons. A portion of profits will go towards Groundwork Somerville.

Groundwork Somerville is a nonprofit organization who's mission and operations are premised on the understanding that environmental conditions are inextricably linked to the economic and social health of a neighborhood, and that individuals’ health can be directly affected by race and income level. As a consequence, Groundwork is committed to “changing places and changing lives” through on-the-ground projects that help to transform local communities. They create jobs, food, green space, and leadership opportunities for environmental justice communities and individuals, through programs that address areas of healthy education, green jobs and sustainable communities.

Arriving Next Week

Keep cold, enjoy fresh, and go vote!

$1 of every 4pk sold will be donated to MassVote.org

MassVOTE is a non-partisan, non-profit organization that seeks to increase voter participation in our state. They advocate for electoral justice for the sake of building a government truly representative of the people. In 1999, a small group of community leaders came together to close the voter turnout gap between white, suburban areas and urban communities of color. Today MassVOTE works on a nonpartisan basis to increase voter registration, education, and participation in historically underrepresented communities in Massachusetts to promote social, economic, environmental, and racial justice.
