One of the most recommended winemakers at Craft and Cru, Filipa Pato is a mom making some of the world's most brilliant wines. We are consistently blown away by the bottles that bear her name and her inspiring motto: Authentic Wines Without Makeup.
Filipa's process starts with biodynamically grown grapes, and ends at bottling with minimal effective sulfites. Depending on the bottling, her wines can see a variety of aging vessels, but when you taste them, it is clear that the philosophy in the winery is to preserve the fresh flavors of her carefully tended grapes, specifically the traditional grapes (Baga, Bical, Sercial) that her home region, Bairrada, is so suited to growing. Filipa's wines are always refreshing and food-friendly, but the best of them are so much more. Wines like her Nossa Calcario are complex wonders that place Bairrada on a world stage alongside much more famous wine regions.

Filipa Pato Baga 'Dinamica' 2019 - $17
Goodness. This stuff is so good! There is a touch of VA, so poised, that lends great aromatic complexity. Aromas of blackberry, dark cherry, strawberry, minty herbs, oyster shells... whispers of peppercorns, wisteria and violets... there are also fun savory suspicions of ketchup and nut oils. Fine tannins, integrated acids, velvety grip, medium in body... Pure tart fruit is entwined with myriad floral, herbal, savory and mineral nuances through the finish. Dense, tangy, raucous, super gulpable: amazing juice. This will be worth following for at least another 5 years.
