When it comes to great grower Champagne, there are basically two originals: Egly-Ouriet and Jacques Selosse. If you're interested in paying $200+ for the entry-level wine of Selosse, go for it, it is a stupendous wine, but also good luck finding it. The profound wines of Egly-Ouriet are as good or better than anything I've had from Selosse, and though these wines are highly allocated, we can offer some to you today.
Egly-Ouriet has been my favorite champagne since Keith Mills introduced me to them 15 years ago at Esprit du Vin. These are wines I literally dream about, and the way things are going in the fine (very fine, oh so fine) wine market I sometimes wonder how much Egly-Ouriet is in my future. You should try them while you can. The Premices is in pretty good supply (a case), while the other two are extremely limited (a few bottles).
Egly-Ouriet Champagne Extra Brut 'Les Premices' NV - $85
Egly-Ouriet Champagne Brut Grand Cru NV - $100 NET (reg. $123)
Egly-Ouriet Champagne Brut 1er Cru 'Les Vignes de Bisseuil' NV - $110
